Both Gavel and Formstack allow you to build web forms that automate document generation. We break down the differences below:
Documate’s all-in-one Builder platform and document automation solution has a simple visual layout, allowing you to easily connect the questionnaire to documents. Documents can be tagged without using any code or learning any syntax.
Formstack has three platforms (Forms, Documents, and Sign), which are separate from each other, making it time-consuming to switch between the platforms and connect the pieces. You must manually link the questionnaire to the document templates using an API, and documents must be coded manually.
Documate has a Microsoft Word add-in that allows you to add variables and complex logic without learning syntax, ensuring accuracy and speedy setup.
Formstack requires you to manually code syntax for variables and all logic into your documents from scratch, which leads to errors and difficult setup.
Branded client portal experience that allows end-users to see their workflows, data, and previous submissions.
Formstack's client portal only allows you to provide links to forms, but does not allow end-user to store data and see prior submissions.
Documate easily allows multiple documents to be generated at once. It also allows multiple versions of the same document to be generated for each item in a list/repeating item.
Because the Formstack Forms and Documents are separate, generating multiple documents from one set of data requires multiple steps.
Documate's customer support team is available by phone, email, screenshare, and a Slack community of fellow builders. Support is unlimited and very responsive.
Formstack does not have phone or screenshare support options or a peer support community.
