June 18, 2026:

  • Adds counterparty-facing comment type option to comment quick action
  • Fully rewrote how redlines are matched against the existing document text and inserted
    • This should be far more reliable than previously and result in fewer situations where navigating to or attempting to apply a redline fails
    • Formatting should be preserved when editing existing portions of the document, and copied from nearby sections when adding new text
    • Redlines over redlines should retain full authorship of all inserted and deleted text
    • Existing comments should be retained when applying a redline
    • This will be rolling out to all users over the coming week

June 11, 2026:

  • Introducing Fill Template, a Quick Action that populates template placeholders in your document from uploaded source documents or matter details, with suggested fills you can accept or reject before applying.

  • Change the dataset that the jurisdiction picker uses

  • Exec can now access all of the content in the working document for tasks that require the entire document's context.
  • Exec now loads when opened in a protected document.
  • "Apply All" no longer shows when there is nothing to apply.
  • Exec now correctly cites any references to chat attachments or projects files in it's suggestions.

    • Merge playbooks
    • Export playbooks
    • Import playbooks (that were exported from Exec)

  • You can now preview references to chat attachments and project files in the chat by hovering your cursor over the reference.
  • We now correctly specify the document name (minus the extension) when referencing a chat attachment or project file.

  • Chat attachments now process automatically in the background after upload, becoming available in chat as soon as processing is complete.
  • Refreshed chat attachments UI with clearer status indicators showing when a file is still processing, ready, or failed.
  • Enhanced agent search capabilities for faster and more relevant results.

April 22, 2026:

  • Existing users can now access Web Exec more smoothly, including a direct Web Exec entry point from the add-in.
  • Improved chat responses so Exec is less likely to reference internal tools or system behavior in its answers.
  • Fixed a document-processing issue that could cause context creation to fail on deeply nested Word files.
  • Reduced PII in logs across the API, worker, and add-in to improve privacy and operational hygiene.

April 21, 2026:          

  • Chat sessions and conversation history are now tracked for Web Exec users.
  • Logging out of Web Exec now redirects to the correct web destination.            
  • Seat details are now available in Web Exec when upgrading your plan.

  • Redlines applied in the middle of a paragraph should no longer remove surrounding whitespace
  • Fixes a bug that prevents users from signing using the addin on older versions of Safari.
  • Allows existing users to sign into web exec when accessing exec from a browser.

  • The priority filter can now be applied to individual groups of redlines instead of being a global filter
  • Improved text formatting of responses while chatting with Exec

April 9, 2026:

Read-only users now get a consistent, clear experience across projects and playbooks — write actions are disabled with tooltips explaining why, so there's no more confusion about what you can and can't do. Project instructions and attachments are now more reliably synced into your AI sessions, so the context you set up actually shows up when it matters.

April 7, 2026:

Quick Actions now live as a toolbar above the chat input, putting your most-used actions right where you need them.

April 3, 2026:

Redline suggestions now include the reasoning behind each proposed change, so you can understand why a change is being recommended without having to dig for it.

April 1, 2026:

Navigating between projects is smoother and more intuitive — projects are sorted alphabetically and your active project is clearly marked.

March 31, 2026:

We've introduced AI Playbooks, powered by your own documents—including internal guidelines and template contracts—so new rule sets align with how your team actually drafts and negotiates. Review and edit the automatically generated rules, then run them like any other playbook.

March 26, 2026:

Project navigation from the chat bar is now more reliable, with your selected project persisting between sessions and history properly scoped to the project.

March 24, 2026:

This release smooths out a few rough edges in Gavel Exec. Redlines now better tolerate spacing inconsistencies, Apply All won't reapply suggestions you've already accepted, and read-only Playbook users are no longer taken into edit actions that would fail.

March 19, 2026:

Scope your work to specific jurisdictions! This release adds a Jurisdiction Picker in Quick Actions so requests can be tailored most precisely. It also adds a new Wishlist link in Settings and the ability to reorder your playbook rules via drag and drop. We love the feedback and move fast to create a delightful experience, if you'd like to see a feature added to Gavel Exec, add it to the wishlist!

March 18, 2026:

Refine your redlines before you apply them with new editing controls available in both Chat and Playbooks. We've also fixed the Stop button so you can reliably halt a generation without disrupting the chat experience, and delivered a smoother Playbooks interface with cleaner inline editing, clearer filtering and progress states, collapsible rule details, and improved empty-state feedback.

This release brings more control over what goes into context, fixes a frustrating hover bug on paragraph links, and makes getting started in Office Online a whole lot smoother.

A big round of bug fixes in this one — Google sign-in is back on track for the web add-in, newly created playbook rules now persist without needing a reload, and redlines and comments are applying reliably in Word Online.

We've launched a new feature - clickable paragraph hyperlinks. Paragraphs mentioned in Gavel Exec's responses are automatically converted into clickable links, allowing you to quickly navigate to the referenced section in your document.

We've improved Playbook rules so they no longer get stuck when preparing information, and updated error messages now clearly guide users to reopen their document if an issue occurs.

We have made drastic performance improvements for our Windows users, alongside making chat streams smoother and faster. Additionally, users can now seamlessly review and accept redlines even while other redlines are still streaming.

We've introduced a redline counter in chat to show the total number of changes, and we've enhanced chat reliability by improving scrolling smoothness in long conversations and addressing message failures related to understanding conversation context.

We've introduced a new onboarding experience that allows you to personalize the platform based on your legal areas and tasks, and we've improved support for working with documents whose titles contain Chinese characters.

We have enhanced the add-in's reliability by automatically retrying failed playbook rules, preventing errors caused by temporary network connection issues.

October 23rd, 2025:

New users can now quickly install our add-in directly after registering, and Gavel Exec can now respond to instructions to draft text and generate paragraphs.

October 22nd, 2025:

We've resolved reported issues to make Playbooks more stable and reliable. Additionally, the Gavel Exec Word Add-in now has enhanced self-awareness, offering clearer insights into what it can do and how it works. Lastly, we have modified Chat to no longer include a toggle for Deep Reasoning - instead, Exec now automatically selects the most suitable AI model depending on what task you're working on, improving speed and accuracy.

October 21st, 2025:

We've introduced a new feature allowing users to join a waitlist for Exec on Web, alongside improvements to email verification and in-app error messages for a smoother experience.

October 15th, 2025:

Introducing a new self-service features that allow users to manage their subscription, including the ability to downgrade from a paid plan to the free tier directly within Gavel Exec.

We have resolved issues affecting Gavel Exec's document redlining, ensuring accuracy and preventing the insertion of random characters. Additionally, we fixed an issue preventing users from accepting workspace invitations.

We have improved how our system handles manual line breaks in documents, resolving issues that previously interfered with insertions from redlines.

We resolved an issue where the most recently added project attachment was not being taken into consideration in redline requests.

We have enhanced our system's ability to accurately recognize newly added or deleted paragraphs, ensuring that all redlines consistently reflect the most current document content.

  • In deep reasoning mode, Gavel Exec no longer responds with zero redlines.
  • For accepted redlines, the"Show" button now navigates you to the correct changes in the document.

  • Quicker, more comprehensive redlines.

Gavel Exec releases Projects to allow you to customize your own AI. Projects in Gavel Exec let lawyers load multiple documents (called Project Files) along with Project Instructions that the AI will review before responding to any request.

Gavel Exec publicly launched in Microsoft Word, including:

  • AI legal assistant with chat functionality for document analysis, revisions, and drafting.
  • Playbooks, which allow you to define a set of negotiation rules and fallback provisions, allowing for automated contract review that non-compliant language and provides suggested redlines. Each rule is checked and marked as passed or failed.
